USS Archerfish is a diecast model of a US Navy submarine from World War II.
USS Archerfish (SS/AGSS-311) is a Balao-class submarine. It was the first US Navy ship named after an archerfish. Archer is best known for sinking the Japanese aircraft carrier Shinano, the largest warship ever sunk by a submarine, in November 1944. For this achievement, she received an award from the President of the United States after World War II.
The keel of the Archerfish was laid down on 22 January 1943 at the Portsmouth Navy Yard in Kittery, Maine. She was launched on May 28, 1943 with the support of Miss Malvina Thompson, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt's personal secretary.
